Alpamayo - Quitaraju
Often called the most beautiful mountain in the world, Alpamayo 5,947m (19,512ft) requires technical climbing up to 70 degrees on its southwest face. Alpamayo is an expedition that will be sure to please any aspiring alpinist looking for an experience in Peru's Cordillera Blanca.

DAY 1. We will meet at your hotel in the morning for introductions and discussions for the trip ahead, followed by an acclimatization hike to Laguna Churup 4500m (14,763ft). Afterwards, we will return to your hotel for a gear check and any last minute items that need to be purchased.
DAY2. We have an early start for a climb of Huarapasca at 5,420m (17,757ft), a lesser- climbed peak which offers sustained climbing at a moderate level--perfect preparation for the trip ahead.
DAY 3. We take off early for the small village of Cashapampa to meet our burros and begin the expedition. Once loaded up, we hike up the beautiful Santa Cruz Valley, setting up camp at Llama Corral 3900m (12,795ft).
DAY 4. We make our way up the Santa Cruz Valley passing lakes and soaking in the impressive scenery before making our camp along a large alpine lake.
DAY 5. We continue working our way up the Santa Cruz Valley before turning into the Hidden Valley. We make our basecamp and organize equipment for our move to moraine camp.
DAY 6. We carry loads up to moraine camp 4,877m (16,000ft) caching gear and returning to basecamp for the night
DAY 7. We make the move to our moraine camp. We ascend the steep moraine while taking in the impressive views on our way.
DAY 8. We move to high camp 5,300m (17,388ft), on the col between Alpamayo and Quitaraju. Be prepared for a challenging day ascending steep terrain with full packs but once at camp under Alpamayo's SW face the views are well worth it.
DAY 9. We approach Alpamayo's steep SW face which offers 360m (1,181ft) of technical climbing, as we make our summit attempt at (5,947m (19,512ft).
DAY 10. We take a rest day for preparation of our attempt at Quitaraju 6,041m (19,820ft).
DAY 11. We make our summit attempt of Quitaraju, if we are feeling able. A short approach across the glacier leads us to Quitaraju which offers the same technical climbing as Alpamayo. Afterwards, we return to our camp and a hot meal.
Day 12. We wake up and after breakfast descend back to basecamp.
Day 13. We make our way back to Cashapampa and our transport back to Huaraz. We can enjoy hot showers and some fresh clothes before heading out for a celebratory meal!
